At Advanced Cosmetic Techniques in Tampa, Laura Sherwood applies permanent makeup by hand. Laura originally learned to apply permanent with a little tattoo machine and like most permanent makeup artists, she did it with a machine for five years before she realized that it can be done by hand, the way it's been applied for centuries. The hand method of permanent makeup application turned out to be so much better for the clients that since then it's the only method Laura uses. Permanent makeup applied by hand is WAY MORE GENTLE! It also gives Laura more control over what she's doing, allowing her to achieve some much softer, more natural looks.
Laura applies permanent cosmetics according to the personal preferences and choices of each client, and no two look alike. Your eyebrows, eyeliner, and lip color can be as natural or as bold as you want them. The area is numbed with a topical cream. Laura has many different colors of pigment and will give you her expert advice to help you choose the right colors for you. All the pigments she uses are natural minerals. Before she begins, she will carefully draw the shape for your approval, so there are no surprises--you know the color and the shape in advance.
Ms. Sherwood perfected the art of applying permanent makeup by hand, and does not use the tattoo machines that are used by other permanent makeup artists. She is a well-trained permanent makeup artist and licensed Cosmetologist by the state of Florida, and has hundreds of beautiful and satisfied clients
When I first began doing permanent makeup in 1992, I applied it with a tattoo machine, which is the method used by most permanent makeup artists. In 1997 I became aware that it could be applied by hand. Since I'm always interested in anything new or different or better in any aspect of what I do, I went to learn this technique.
It turns out that permanent makeup has been done by hand for centuries in different cultures. My clients and I were so pleased with the gentleness and natural results of the hand method that since then it's the only technique I use. You're going to love your new look!
Eyebrows done by hand with permanent makeup look more like natural eyebrows, as opposed to a "tattoo of an eyebrow". While your brows are numbing with a topical cream, I'll help you choose just the right color for you. Then I'll carefully draw the shape with an eyebrow pencil. Once you approve the shape, I'll fill that in with what appear to be lots of little hairs. You'll never have to worry about trying to draw them on again. Every morning you'll wake up with perfect eyebrows.
Permanent eyeliner can look bold like you just applied regular makeup. Or it can look so natural that it just seems like you have a lot more eyelashes--so you wake up looking natural but better. Or anything in between. Because the hand method gives me so much control over what I'm doing, I can achieve many different looks. The lash line is numbed with a topical cream, and your eyes remain closed throughout the procedure. We'll work on it together, until it's just what you want..
Lip liner and color can make your lips look fuller, give beautiful definition, and correct asymmetry. While your lips are being numbed with a topical cream I'll help you choose one of the many lovely shades I have. I'll outline your lips with a lip pencil to make sure the shape is exactly what you want. Then I'll follow that shape precisely, and if you want I'll fill in the lip with soft color. The color looks like lipstick at first but in a few days it just looks like the lips are naturally the most beautiful color and shape. Then you can wear any color lipstick you want--but you don't have to!
